Zines take center stage in this hands-on workshop that celebrates the power of DIY and do it together publishing. These handmade, self published booklets connect to a rich world of pamphlets, chapbooks, and blogs, offering an accessible and flexible format for sharing stories, ideas, and creative expression. Drawing from her 30 plus year collection, Jillian introduces participants to common zine styles and guides them through at least three different construction methods, including 8 page and 16 page mini zines folded from a single sheet of paper, quarter and half page formats with varied bindings, and accordion styles. Participants will also collaborate on a group zine that will be mailed out after class, and each person will leave with at least three handmade zines plus the skills and confidence to keep creating and sharing long after the workshop ends. The registration fee is 35 dollars.
