You're invited to the 28th Annual Living on Common Ground Multicultural Festival on Saturday, April 7, from 11:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on the University of Redlands Quad. This event is free and open to the public.
There will be food vendors and a children’s corner, featuring crafts from around the world, bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, and games. More information on festival performances is to come.
This year's conference is scheduled for October 8th, from 9am to 1pm at the University of Redlands, Orton Center. We'll be exploring how the arts can work across sectors to better our communities. Through presentations, conversations and the opportunity to network, you'll be introduced to other potential collaborators interested in the role that creativity can play in solving problems and strengthening the fabric of our communities.
“The Seagull” was directed by Tom Provenzano at the Glenn Wallichs Theater from March 20-23, 2014. The play was written by Anton Chekhov in 1895 and is considered the first of his four major plays. Provenzano had first seen the play when he was just 7 years old and for some time had wanted to direct it. When asked about the play’s historical significance, Provenzano states, “Within its period it was a big change in theater because it was just about how people lived. It was a revolution and really moved us towards modern and contemporary theater.” In relationship to Chekhovian theater he says, “They say they’re comedies, but they’re really dramas about this particular period coming to the close of Czarist Russia.”
The University of Redlands School of Music will present a FREE concert featuring the Hugo Wolf Quartet at 8 p.m. March 11 in the university’s Memorial Chapel.
The program will include the String Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 33, No. 2, “The Joke,” by Joseph Haydn, Lyric Suite for String Quartet by Alban Berg and String Quartet in G Major, D. 887 by Franz Schubert.
