Artist Applications Now Open For
2019 Redlands Festival of Arts
Redlands, CA–October 22, 2018–Artist applications are open for the , which is a juried art show awarding over $6,000.00 in prizes to talented artists who will come from across the United States over this coming year’s Memorial Day weekend, May 25-26, 2019, from 10 am to 5 pm to exhibit their work in Smiley Park.
More than 60 artists are expected to participate in this open air, juried art show and compete for honors in multiple art categories. This festival, for which there is no admission charge, draws thousands of visitors who want to see and purchase a wide range of art, including paintings, photography, sculpture, glass, textiles, metal, wood, ceramics, jewelry, fashion and furniture.
Interested artists are encouraged to visit to complete the festival artist exhibitor application form. While there is a booth fee for accepted artists, no percentage is retained by the festival from the sale of their artwork.
Shirley Harry, Festival Chairwoman, said, “I’m encouraging artists from Redlands, the Inland Empire and Southern California to apply for this juried show. Our festival visitors love to buy all kinds of art while supporting our student artist grant programs. We also need more festival volunteers to help us. It’s fun to be a volunteer—just ask me or visit our web site for more info.”
A family friendly event, the festival includes a Kids Arts Zone with hands-on fun art experiences, a chalk art competition and this year a new youth art exhibit. The festival also includes special exhibits at the Smiley Library and the Lincoln Shrine along with live entertainment and a food, beer and wine garden.
Steps away from the festival there will be more to see and do at Art in the Park, which will be held on the Eureka Street side of Smiley Park adjacent to the Redlands Bowl and Mission Gables House.

An intersection occurs when two or more paths cross: where cultures, histories, ambitions or chance converge, creating defining moments of decision, denial or opportunity. For some, the paths are riddled with obstacles or even blocked, while the way is smoothed for others. The opportunity is fleeting for some, but can last a lifetime for others. “Intersection” is a call to artists who respond to these diverging and converging courses in their work. This exhibition aims to brings together artists from across Southern California whose practices express components of intersectionality, privilege, choices, culture, chance, or events.
LAUNCH LA, in partnership with The Korean Cultural Center, invites all Southern California visual artists to submit work for a juried exhibition and competition at The Korean Cultural Center, 5505 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, August 17 to August 30, 2018.
“Rock On! … through … up … over” is the theme for the next Art in Public Places exhibition for July 7 to September 28 at Twentynine Palms Visitor Center Art Gallery and Chamber of Commerce, 73484 29 Palms Hwy. in downtown Twentynine Palms.
Desert artists are invited to submit an original piece of art for possible inclusion in the group exhibition. Artwork will be received at the visitor center gallery on In/Out day, Friday, June 29, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Artists unable to make this time can request an alternate delivery time by calling (760) 367-3445 any weekday prior to In/Out day.

On December 2, 2015, a terrorist attack in the City of San Bernardino left 14 dead, 23 injured (including two law enforcement first responders), and innumerable others traumatized. The attack was a direct assault on County of San Bernardino (County) employees in the Department of Public Health’s Environmental Health Services Division. Local, state and federal public safety partners responded to the incident, killing the suspects within hours of the initial attack; two members of law enforcement were wounded in the shootout.
The County wishes to honor the victims of this senseless act of violence with a memorial. The December 2nd Memorial Committee composed of survivors, family of victims, County officials, and first responders is leading the effort to build a memorial. The County has retained Community Arts, Inc., a San Francisco- based arts organization, to assist the Committee by issuing an Invitational Call for Submittals to interested artists, designers, architects and creative teams.
