Winner! What's On Stage Award for Best New Comedy 2010

When Annie's husband John dies of leukaemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an "alternative" calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The news of the women's charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie's friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame. Based on the true story of eleven WI members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls opened at the Chichester Festival Theatre and has since become the fastest selling play in British theatre history.

Celebrate Halloween early with the Master of the Macabre, Edgar Allan Poe, in the award-winning one man tour-de-force "Lord, Help My Poor Soul: An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe," starring multi-award-winning IE actor Travis Rhett Wilson as Poe, and directed by multi-award-winning IE Actor/Producer/Writer/Director John Lynd.

Witness Poe, as he recounts in his own words the tragic and grim events in his life that inspired him to create some the greatest works of poetry, and horror fiction that the artistic words has ever known. Included are full-length recitations of "The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven," and of course the haunting love poem "Annabel Lee."

The plot of the story remains the same – three pigs build homes out of questionable material, while a wolf attempts to take their life. As a child that story was always one of my favorites. Though, I do admit, remakes were always better than the original because the author had to work hard to keep the integrity of the tale intact, while still changing it. John Scieszka did it quite successfully in, The True Story of Three Little Pigs, by creating a sympathetic wolf and some very rude piggies. In George Stiles’ and Anthony Drewe’s The Three Little Pigs: A Very Curly Musical Tail, our classic heroes take to the stage in a coming of age adaptation of the story. No, no. Not coming of age like Holden Caulfield (though wouldn’t that be interesting?), but more like finding out what it means to grow up, become independent, and stake your own claim in the world – not only for yourself, but for your family as well.
