INLANDIA POETRY LIBRARY RIBBON CUTTING

INLANDIA POETRY LIBRARY RIBBON CUTTING

On Wednesday, April 4th, the Garcia Center for the Arts hosted the Poets and Writers -Inland Empire Literary Roundtable meeting.  With over 25 poets, writers, and artists in attendace, including 4 from Joshua Tree and a writer all the way from Barstow, the room was an inspiring space to be for the evening.

After brief introductions, Ernie Garcia, Executive Director of the Garcia Center for the Arts, along with Cati Porter, Executive Direcotr of Inlandia Institute and Nikia Chaney, Inlandia’s Poet Laureate, cut the ribbon to open the Indlandia Poetry Library, now on site at the Center.  The collection consists of the 400 books NIkia Chaney read as a part of her work as a screener for the Kingsley and Kate Tufts Poetry awards, which is based at the Claremont Graduate University.  These awards are considered among the world’s most lucrative prizes in poetry.

These books are an amazing additional to the Garcia Center’s library.  The library is free and open to public.  Come check it out!! Arts Connection is honored and grateful to be a part of this vibrant part of the San Bernardino Arts community.
