The fourth annual Joshua Tree National Park Art Exposition will be held September 17 & 18, 2016, in Twentynine Palms, CA, at a variety of venues in the Oasis of Mara next to Joshua Tree National Park Headquarters.

A call for art entries is now being issued for the exposition’s annual Juried Art Exhibition, which will be displayed at the historic 29 Palms Art Gallery for the month of September, with an awards reception for artists and the public set for Saturday night, Sept. 17.

Entry submissions for the juried exhibition are being accepted until Friday, July 22, 2016, and may be submitted online or by mail. The theme for the juried exhibition is artwork depicting or inspired by the unique aspects of Joshua Tree National Park or its cultural history. In addition, the 2016 exhibition will be a celebration of the 80th anniversary of the park and the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.

Approximately 50 artists will be selected for the honor of exhibiting in the show. They also will be included in the exhibition catalogue and will be eligible for cash awards. Entry is open to national and international visual artists age 18 and over. The artist’s work must be original and created within the last five (5) years.

Complete guidelines and an entry form are available at The entry fee is $35 for up to three (3) artwork entries per artist. Entry images and entry fees can be submitted online. Deadline for entries is Friday, July 22, 2016, at 12 midnight PT.

In addition to the exhibition, a complimentary 10x10 booth space will be offered for juried artists to sell additional art in an art market on the lawn at 29 Palms Inn during the exposition weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18. Exposition events include artist booths, art classes, demonstrations, interpretive walks, music, food and beverages.

The art exposition has been moved to September this year to provide warmer weather for the outdoor art market and activities. Previous expositions were held in November and December.

The exposition is presented by Joshua Tree National Park Council for the Arts, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. For more information, visit the website, or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
